A spectacular seafront setting, warm welcome, luxurious rooms and delicious dining set the scene for a memorable stay. A well known eco-conscious refuge, this protected cove and its shoreline is also home to many birds, small mammals and marine life which can be viewed on the seashore paths nearby. Schulphoek embodies contemporary luxury, simplified elegance and the lingering scent from our rows of French lavender. Our guests often return to feel refreshed, indulged and warm with the satisfaction of delicious food, good wine and the pleasant company of friends. Under the care of our gardener of twenty years, Elias, our raised bed vegetable potager produces nearly all the herbs and vegetables served in our restaurant. Two long walls weighed down with passion fruit plants protect the rows of succulent lettuce, spinach, fennel, and herbs. In season we enjoy papaya, guava and strawberries which all find their way to our table. All water for the potager is from our rain water harvesting tanks. We mulch our own all-organic waste compost and keep a thriving earthworm farm. With a wine cellar offering some twelve-thousand bottles of local and selected international wine, some carefully aged for a decade, the guesthouse is a real find for wine aficionados. Our cellar has been carefully curated for over a decade to include a wide variety of South Africa’s best wines, some now over twenty years old. We take great pride in selecting and ageing wines from cellars that we visit, and wine makers we consider friends.
